My inspiration was for creating the Whats Your Top 5 podcast equal parts the character Rob Gordon in High Fidelity and Dax Shepard’s highly successful podcast Armchair Expert. Rob and I are of a similar era in regards to how their youth shaped their musical interests (my musically formative years were the early to mid 80’s in Southern California) and I enjoyed making mix tapes back in college much the way Rob does in the movie High Fidelity. I am also a voracious consumer of podcasting content and recently came across the Armchair Expert podcast that feels a lot like sitting in on a conversation among friends. And the environment is very casual, an attic above a garage, with cozy couches and lounge chairs. I highly recommend it and, frankly, found inspiration in it in how we built our little home studio and the format of our podcast. I am also a huge fan of movies, TV, sports, etc., and I expect all of these to be fodder for many episodes to come.

First, let me state that’s it’s both a privilege and an honor to serve as co-host alongside Larry for the WhatsYourTop5 Podcast. I love watching and attending sporting events and being born in 1979 means two of my favorite sports teams have won championships during my lifetime: Los Angeles Lakers have won 10 NBA championships and the Anaheim Ducks have won a Stanley Cup. My hobbies include going to Disneyland, bowling (I bowled a 300 game in league play!), Sunday lament sessions in Downtown Fullerton, and spending time with my wonderful niece and nephew. Born and raised in Fullerton, CA, I’m a proud graduate of California State University, Fullerton and I love living in this beautiful city. I look forward to interacting with everyone and I hope you enjoy our podcast!
